You may have seen that aside from Coronavirus, there are lots of other things going on in the world right now. Make your own pair of ‘Empathy glasses’ to wear whilst watching this news – Monday – PSHE

Having empathy means you understand why others are feeling the way they are. Try to make some notes about how people are feeling during the racism riots around the world.

The building was big and scary.

Tuesday - Maths

PSHE

Yesterday you were asked to watch the news through your empathy glasses and think about how people are feeling as they participate in racism riots. How did it make you feel? What words did you come up with to describe what you saw? Write these words within a balloon drawn on paper… too many negative emotions result in people’s behaviour changing, too many negative words make the balloon pop!

Creative

Research work by the artist Georges Seurat. He created artwork in the pointillist style. Look at his use of light and colour. Can you create a picture in this style?

Physical Activity

Find time during the day to go for a walk in your garden or at a park with your family. Can you walk a mile in a day?

Wednesday

English

Using the techniques, words/phrases you highlighted in the story on Monday, finish the story off. What will happen next? How will it end? Can you use fantastic features we discussed at school such as fronted adverbials, adverbs, a range of pronouns?

Maths

You could… crawl under tables, climb over ottomans, roll over cushions on the floor, crab walk from the living room to the kitchen or throw 3 balls of socks into the basket within 10 seconds!

Thursday - Maths

PSHE

It is important that we all have a positive self-esteem, particularly during these uncertain times. Can you create your very own self esteem shield with positive messages on to motivate yourself?

Creative

Get a mirror or a recent picture of yourself.

Filling up a whole A4 piece of paper, carefully draw a self-portrait in a cartoon style like the videos you have seen on ‘Art for Kids Hub’. Remember the importance of sketching and shading, your first marks on the paper are very rarely the ones visible on your paper at the end!

Physical Activity

Skipping Challenge! How many skips can you do in 5 minutes? If you don’t own a skipping rope, don’t worry! Watch this video to learn how to make one from plastic bags – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0ExVd9WlMY&authuser=1
