Attendance

Attendance and Punctuality at Crossley Hall

There is a direct link between good school attendance and levels of attainment at the end of primary school.

Regardless of the reason, if your child is absent from school or frequently late, it will have a negative impact on their learning.

How you can help…

  • Ensure your child understands the importance of good attendance and punctuality
  • Don’t let your child miss school for minor illnesses, and if they are going to be absent, contact school before 9am.
  • Arrange appointments after school hours, or in the school holidays.
  • Check the school website for term dates and ensure your holidays are not in term time. Fines will be issued by Bradford Council for unauthorised holidays.

Every minute counts!

There are 175 non- school days per year to enjoy visits, holidays, shopping and other appointments.

  • If your child’s attendance falls below 90%, a letter may be sent home inviting you to attend an ‘attendance meeting’ with the Headteacher and the Attendance Officer. Discussions will be supportive and possible interventions will be put in place to support your child.
  • Continued poor attendance may result in prosecution and/or a fine issued by Bradford Council as stated in the Attendance Policy
  • Holidays during term time will not be authorised.

Your child should attend school for 97% or above.

Punctuality at Crossley Hall

…means being in school, on time, everyday, ready to learn

Being on time every day is very important. Children who are late into school miss valuable learning time and have an unsettled start to their morning. Being late for school makes children feel anxious and often embarrassed as they arrive in class after their friends. It is also very important that children establish good routines and habits in preparation for the rest of their lives. Punctuality is a life skill that they need to develop whilst they are young.

  • The school gates open at 8:30am and close at 8:40am. Learning starts from 8:40am.
  • If your child arrives after 8:40am, you will need to enter via the main entrance and provide reason for lateness.
