OPAL

OPAL – Outdoor Play and Learning at CHPS

Did you know that playtime is about 20% of every child’s day at school? That’s 1.4 years of every child’s life while they are at primary school. It is also, for many children, the only time they have to play outside regularly.

Here at The Crossley Hall Primary School, we are committed to ensuring our children make the best childhood memories through playing outdoors, exploring the world we live in and creative play. Our core values Happiness, Aspiration and Inclusion underpin all we do at CHPS. These are shared values which proactively create a positive environment, positive behaviours and support pupil wellbeing. At our school every child matters and we strive to ensure that all our children are well cared for and enjoy learning in a happy and safe environment. Through Outdoor Play and Learning we believe that these core values are consolidated in one of the most important aspects of a child’s learning and development.

What does this mean for us?

Happier children

No wasted learning time

A fully inclusive playtime offer

Opportunities for creative play, developing social skills and developing language skills

Children develop independence and resilience skills

…. and most importantly fun!
